i ordered 100 square metres of turf when it was delivered it did not look very good quality but i laid in any way it was full of moss/weeds & was also full of holes i was also 10 rolls short i have complained to the owner who has a very bad attitude and not willing to listen to any complaints this company should not be aloud to carry on trading because thay only rip you off if i could turn the clock back i would of ordered from another company

Ordered 'premium turf', roles are a square yeard and not a square metre as advertised on the website, so i had to order more turf to complete my garden. Quality is the worst you can get. Rude on the phone, liars and dishonests. I dont know how can the authorities permit that this company continues trading!! What can we as consumers do to stop them?
An absolute disgrace. Never mind the quality of the turf, the service was beyond words.
had a bit of a run in with midland turf on the phone a little while ago re late delivery - then decided to check to see if anyone else had had a problem with them - came across this site (thankfully!) and immediately rang back to cancel the order - he told me to "drop dead". Nice.
Our turf didn't turn up when I rang two days later to enquire why I wasn't rude just asking the obvious question any customer is entitled to ask. The owner told me his driver had been involved in a fatal accident and I was just about to ask why he didn't call us to let us know when he said my whole world obviously revolved round my 24 roll of turf- I called him unprofessional and he hung up- sooo rude!
I just wanted to let you know that the Rogue Traders investigation into Terry Jacobs of Midlands Turf AKA Central Turf and Topsoil is scheduled for broadcast during "Watchdog" this coming Thursday 30th September at 8pm on BBC 1.
I wish I had checked the company out before buying from them! I ordered the "premium quality" turf, and 1 tonne 1/2 topsoil it came on friday, whilst the guy was unloading it I noticed that It had quite a bit of moss in. I asked the delivery guy if it was the premium quality and he said yes, my internal alarm bells were ringing, but I so wanted to get on with my garden I ignored them! DOH! Anyway my husband came back and I paid by cheque (which is a bonus), we inspected the turf more closely and it was rubbish to say the least. my husband tried to ring friday and saturday only to be told that the owner wasnt there and the staff had been trying to contact him all day, they gave my husband his mobile number which he tried with no joy. Sunday he tried the office again to be told the same thing and this time they gave him the owners landline! neither time had my husband asked for his private numbers. which says to me the staff just dont want to deal with it. so he tried the landline but to no avail. so he left a message on the mobile saying that we would cancel the cheque until we had talked to him. soon after the owner contacted my husband in a slurry of abuse, asking him if he worked on a sunday, how did he get his private number and what he knew about turf he probably could have written on a postage stamp. To which my husband replied yes (to the sunday working) but he'd taken time off to sort the garden, and the staff had volunteered the numbers and the whole reason he was ringing was because he didnt know anything about turf and wanted to converse with him about the state of it! anyway my husband kept it down and the owner said that we couldnt cancel the cheque because it had the card number on the back (I have cancelled the cheque,but with a £10 fee). The end of the conversation was that the owner would arrange for pick up of the turf yesterday (which hasnt happened!). I rang the office yesterday to ask about pick up but the staff didnt know what time. I have told them ive cancelled the cheque but the turf is still out the front! We've already used the topsoil which was also a bit naff, but I have a cheque ready here for the cost of the topsoil, when they eventually pick it up, if they do...ever! I think i'll go to B&Q the turf there is lovely!!!
Totally agree with the other reviews, I took delivery of "premium turf" thinking the "30 day no quibble guarantee" was testament to quality. It was not. The first delivery was long grass, full of weeds, clover and thistle. I complained relentlessly, in spite of how rude and unhelpful the owner is, and he reluctantly swapped it...for more of the same rubbish, which I refused delivery of. Am now pursuing him for a refund, probably through the small claims court, with a report to trading standards. I wish I had read these reviews first. Don't keep this company (also trading as Central Turf and Topsoil) in business
just took delivery of the premium turf,it's dreadful quality.it's 4" long has clover and thistle's and the width varies.have just called to complain and told to call back tomorrow.I'm gonna get in touch with rouge traders as this is a complete joke.I spent £183.75 for turf not fit for a goat.
